Dry flower petals can be used as a saffron substitute. Calendula ointment is easy to make and is in constant use here on the farm as a soothing anti-inflammatory salve for cuts, gardeners' dry hands, and lip balm. Also known as pot marigold even though it isn’t related to marigolds. High in vitamins A and C and rich in flavonoids.
